Veterans Day Letter to Congressman Jerry Lewis

Veterans Day November 11, 2007

TO:
US Congressman Jerry Lewis Phone: 909 – 792-5901
1150 Brookside Ave., Suite J-5
Redlands, CA 92373

Dear Congressman Lewis:

Enclosed is a copy of the front of an envelope addressed to the Loma Linda VA Hospital, 2nd Floor, 2 NE for Mr. Jerry Smith. A hospital staff member, apparently from 2nd Floor, 2 NE, then scribbled above the address, “No longer on This Unit.” As you can also see there are large black marker lines crossing out the address and the letters RTS [Return To Sender] with an arrow pointing to my return address.

The point I’m trying to make is that no matter how much money the Republicans or Democrats give to the VA hospitals in the next budget, or how the money is bundled, it makes no difference when the VA personal lacks such unprofessional and disrespectful attitudes towards us Veterans.

The above envelope contained my October 27, 2007 letter of which both you Congressman Lewis and Senator Barbara Boxer have already received. Both your staff’s and Mr. Manuel Vasquez of the Dept. of Alcohol and Drug Program have all guarantied me you would keep me informed as to your investigations as to the letter’s request regarding Mr. Jerry Smith.

That request said, “Please [Jerry Smith] send me the written report stating the details as to why I was irregularly discharged, on or about the 2nd week of Sept. 2007, from your “Problems Group”.

The obvious scenario that I see is the VA’s 2nd floor, 2 NE is acting deceitful and unprofessional by not writing me a letter about how to contact Jerry Smith. As we can all see now by the scribbled note on the envelope that the problem of disrespect to Veterans is not just only with Jerry Smith but the staff on the VA’s 2nd floor.

Putting more money into this rotten barrel of a hospital will only temporarily cover-up the rot. Change the hospital’s attitude and provide me with my requested written report. PLEASE!

Sincerely,
Carl G. Mueller, Nam 68
